Even when I’m trying to eat my healthiest, there’s no escaping the snack aisle. Salty, spicy and crunchy or sweet and nutty, there’s not a chip, cookie or piece of chocolate I can resist. Luckily, snack companies are getting smarter and incorporating healthy ingredients like kale and quinoa into their chips, chocolates and even granola. I know what you’re thinking, how can they possibly be as good as the original junk food we crave? But give them a try, I bet you’ll be as pleasantly surprised as I have been. I shared my new snacking obsessions with Better TV, below are my picks. Oh, and if you want t give that Cauliflower Mac n Cheese a try, here is the recipe. Holy yum!
Greenola. It may not be trading my breakfast cereal for this Spiraling Crunch, but this Greenola, sweetened with vanilla and pineapple juice is a sweet and crunchy mid morning snack I can get behind.
Deano’s Jalapeno Chips. Not to be confused with jalapeño flavored chips, these are actual slices of jalapeños, seeds and all, lightly breaded and fried. They are delicious on their own, but would be a great topping for a hamburger or homemade nachos.
Quinn Popcorn. This is a new favorite I hadn’t yet discovered when I did the Better TV segment. Non GMO corn is hard to come by, but this California olive oil flavored popcorn is Non GMO verified, low cal (just 39 calories per cup) and absolutely delicious. They also have a microwave popcorn bag and several other unique flavors I can’t wait to try out.
Super 4 Snacks: White Bean, Quinoa, Lentil and Chia, kale and roasted garlic flavor. Imagine a healthy Bugle, or if your familiar with the favorite Israeli snack, Bissli. This is the power food version, packed with healthy grains and greens, and surprisingly tasty.
Alter Eco Dark Quinoa Organic Chocolate. They swapped rice crisps for the protein packed quinoa that still adds crunch and bite and with 60% cocoa, I feel a little less guilty indulging in this chocolate bar after dinner (or in the middle of the night).
