Air Fryer Buffalo Chicken Wings

SAVE & SHARE:

The air fryer is perfect for these baked buffalo chicken wings and so much healthier than deep frying them. I love to make them when I have friends over to watch a big football game and hang out with friends. There’s a secret ingredient to making them extra crispy when they bake, see the recipe below!

Air Fryer Buffalo Chicken Wings

  • Author: Roni Proter
  • Prep Time: 5 minutes
  • Cook Time: 15 minutes
  • Total Time: 20 minutes
  • Yield: 4 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 lbs trimmed chicken wings including drumettes and tips
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • generous sprinkling of kosher salt and cracked pepper
  • 1/3 Buffalo-style hot sauce (I used Frank’s)
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 garlic cloves, finely minced
  • Grape seed oil spray

Instructions

  1. Heat the air fryer to 400 degrees or turn on your oven to the broiler to low and place on the highest rack setting
  2. Wash and pat the chicken wings and drumettes until moisture is removed. In a mixing bowl, add the chicken wings, sprinkle generously with salt and pepper and evenly sprinkle the baking soda. Toss well to combine
  3. Place on the air fryer rack so the chicken wings are not touching
  4. Spray generously with the vegetable spray, place under the boiler and cook for a few minutes, watching to make sure they don’t burn. Remove from the oven or air fryer, rotate and continue cooking, total time will be around 10-15 minutes
  5. Meanwhile, microwave and melt the butter, then whisk in the hot sauce, lemon juice and garlic
  6. Remove the chicken wings from the oven and place in a clean mixing bowl. Add the hot sauce mixture and toss well to combine
  7. Serve with carrots, celery sticks and homemade, healthy Ranch dip
