The perfect weekend brunch, French Toast is a classic breakfast recipe to make on a lazy Saturday or Sunday. I like to make a big batch and have it on hand for the rest of the week.

- 1/2 large loaf of challah bread (homemade challah bread recipe here!)
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tso vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup cream
- 1/2 low fat milk
- butter for frying
- maple syrup or powdered sugar for serving
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, add the sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, eggs, cream and milk and whisk until well combined
- Cut the challah bread into 1/2 inch thick pieces
- Turn a non stick or cast-iron skillet to medium low heat and add a pat of butter.
- Dip the challah slices in the egg and milk mixture, one slice at a time. Immediately turn over and coat both sides before placing in the pan to cook
- Cook for about 2 minutes, then flip and brown the other side before serving
